Avoid Labelling Slow Learners

In reality it is much more easier to say this, than to do it. Labelling comes with grievous consequences. Some parents and teachers often see themselves branding a particular child intentionally or unintentionally. This is a very big mistake!

Maybe due to the child's academic performances in school or anti-social behaviours.

Childhood means a developmental phase of a human life. Whatever one sows directly or indirectly in the mind of a growing child at this stage has stronger impressions or effects in the long run.

As an Educationist, Teacher, Mentor or Parent, it is important to desist from calling children names that reflects only their weaknesses.

No child is a Coconut head or born as one

No child is good for nothing

No child is an Olodo (nonentity) or born as one

No child is a Dullard or Mumu (fool)

No child is a fool

No child is an Itiboribo (zero)

No child is too dull to sit for an important examinations.

No child does not deserve to go to school

No child lacks what it takes to excel in school activities

No child was created without a Brain

No child is a Slug

No child is a Mistake

It is your responsibility to mold and sharpen them up as a teacher or parent. Labelling or Name calling won't change him or her, neither will it solve the problem. Rather it worsens it.

Why not call them names that edifies them, a name that focuses on building strength instead. Not one that messes up with their emotions and courage?

Every child has the potential to become anything in life. No one is limited, every child deserves a chance to thrive. What makes the major differences between child (A) who is well to do and child (B) is 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 and 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚. With these two phenomenon you can transform your child or student into the best version of themselves.

So therefore, stop labelling, branding and naming the struggling learners. Use that energy to lift them up instead.

Labelling Is unhealthy and damages the psychology of the growing children grievously.

Desist from it today!
